This deep rose wine opens with an aromatic profile of lingonberry tartness, damp forest floor, and hints of garden strawberries and raspberries. With its residual sugar level, it falls on the border between semi-sweet and sweet. On the palate, lingonberry leads the way, followed by a secondary note of raspberry, creating a bold yet balanced berry character.

Food recommendations
This wine has been successfully paired with venison fillet served rare, as well as with less-sweet desserts like quark or cream cheese mousses topped with fresh berries. It’s an especially fine match for traditional Christmas dishes, particularly blood sausage with lingonberry jam, where its berry notes and gentle sweetness complement the flavours beautifully.

History
Why the Name “Erik Menved”? This wine carries the name Erik Menved for a reason. The village of Valgejõe was first mentioned in Danish chronicles in 1290, during the reign of King Erik Menved of Denmark, who then ruled over Estonia. The forests surrounding the village are rich in lingonberries, which form part of this wine’s character—and it’s easy to imagine these same berry woods thriving here even in Menved’s time. That’s why we named our semi-sweet lingonberry wine after the king himself – a nod to both local history and the flavour of the land. The berries are sourced partly from Lahemaa, with the rest gathered from other regions of Estonia.
